Who we are: skip connett
Skip Connett grew up on his family's farm in Pennsylvania. As a child he sold onions grown on the farm to the local A&P. This gave Skip his first glimpse at what it was like to earn money from growing vegetables. Skip and his wife opened Green Gate Farms, an organic farm just outside of Austin, five years ago. Skip says farming in Texas is a huge challenge because of the fickle weather, but the great soil allows him to farm 37 weeks out of the year. The fact that Skip runs an organic farm in an urban setting puts a uniquely modern twist on the traditional ideas about what it means to run a farm.
